AVIAM SCAMNUM
2022 WINNER AWARD OF REBUILD 17 PROJECT, EEA GRANTS PORTUGAL The AVIAM SCAMNUM project stands as a groundbreaking venture in urban furniture design, placing a strong emphasis on recycled aggregates and sustainability. Part of the EEA Grants-funded Program Ambiente initiated by the Regional Government of the Azores, this proposal collaborates with influential entities like the Laboratory of Regional Civil Engineering and the Innovation Center for Advanced Materials. The project strives to achieve a harmonious balance between quality and affordability through innovative production methods, addressing critical social, cultural, and environmental needs. Crafted for shared experiences, AVIAM SCAMNUM draws inspiration from Sergio Mazza's "Toga" chair and Bauhaus principles. It seamlessly integrates with the volcanic landscape of the Azores, employing Continuous Basalt Fiber (CBF) from recycled aggregates to ensure a sustainable and durable design. The project goes beyond symbolizing Azorean identity, creating a symbiosis between technology, tradition, art, and memory. It becomes a unique piece at the forefront of contemporary design, seamlessly blending interior and exterior, offering both ergonomic functionality and a sustainable approach. AVIAM SCAMNUM not only represents a striking blend of contemporary design, historical significance, and sustainable innovation but also prioritizes ergonomic considerations to enhance user experience. This urban furniture piece actively contributes to reducing carbon footprint, embodying a commitment to environmental responsibility. In doing so, it not only champions the comfort of its users but also stands as a testament to its dedication to fostering overall well-being. This project is dedicated to the memory of my grandmother, incorporating the essence of her legacy through the implementation of references to her traditional Azorean embroideries. This tribute not only pays homage but also resonates in the intricate weavings of architectural design, capturing the beauty and tradition of Azorean embroideries. It creates a profound connection between the past, present, and future, enriching the architectural narrative with a timeless and cultural thread. #AVIAMSCAMNUM #ArchitecturalTribute #AzoreanHeritage #EmbroideryInnovation #DesignInspiration #CulturalThread #SustainableDesign #ArchitecturalLegacy #GrandmothersLegacy #TimelessInnovation #designwinner #madeinazores #azores #alexandrepicanco
