Azores Contemporary Sculpture
This sculptural work emerges as an artistic expression dedicated to honoring the Local Administrators of the Parish. The conception of this piece involves a contemporary reinterpretation of the role of the local administrator, utilizing classical forms in the representation of the human sculpture. The goal is to seamlessly integrate the artwork into the urban space, providing a suitable scale for the chosen location for the Monument installation. Contextually, the work aims to engage in a dialogue with the evolution of contemporary sculpture, actively contributing to urban redevelopment. Urban parks, as multifunctional spaces, transform into open-air galleries for public art, posing a challenge for artists and promoters to balance the complexity of coexistence between sculpture and the urban environment. The underlying symbolism of the sculpture emphasizes the significance of Local Power, embodied by the inclusive and driving work of the Parish Administrators in the Azores. The abstract form of the sculpture, devoid of gender references, creates a visual signature that establishes a dialogue with the surrounding space, seeking a meaningful connection with society. Positioned at ground level, the sculpture seeks to convey integrity and equality between the Local Administrator and fellow citizens, reflecting values of proximity, availability, and dedication. Polygonal surfaces eliminate individual monumentality, maintaining focus on the sculptural expression, while the extended arm symbolizes the constant willingness of the Local Administrator to assist. Inspired by the works of Ben Foster and Xavier Veilhan, this sculpture proposes an ambivalent and elegant approach, utilizing contemporary technologies. The choice of mirrored stainless steel, with its durability and aesthetic appeal, enhances the symbolic value of the artwork. With this creation, the intention is to provoke discussion and stimulate both collective and individual awareness, contributing to a meaningful dialogue within the urban context. #PublicArt #ContemporarySculpture #UrbanDialogue #LocalPower #ArtisticExpression #BenFosterInspired #XavierVeilhanInfluence #SculptureInstallation #AmbivalentArt #AzoresArt #UrbanRedevelopment #EqualityInArt #SymbolicSculpture #CommunityConnection #CulturalDialogue #AmbientSculpture #SteelArtwork #ArtDebate #CollectiveAwareness #ElegantDesign #azores #alexandrepicanco
